Players have been meeting at Brewood Chess Circle since the club was founded in 1980.
The club has competed in the following competitions in the stated years:
Since 1980 during our history we have won 15 team trophies. Individual players from the club have won 2 individual trophies.
Wolverhampton League Humphreys Trophy: 2009-10
Wolverhampton Summer League Division 2: 1985
Wolverhampton Summer League Division 3: 1984, 1988, 2007,
Wolverhampton Summer League Division 3 North: 1998, 2003,
Wolverhampton Summer League Division 3 South: 1999, 2005,
Cannock League Chase Trophy 2017-18,
Dudley League Division 3: 2012-13,
The club is hopeful of adding more honours in future years.
Bidgood Cup 1992-1993 won by David Buckley.
Robert Ward - Plate section 2013-2014 won by John Fenby.
We are hoping to eventually have the statistical breakdown of all the club's teams for each season.
In all cases the information below is subject to mistakes.
The Wolverhampton Chess League is a promotion and relegation league. Therefore for the Brewood A team, Brewood B team and the Brewood C team in the Wolverhampton Chess League it is easier to track the progress of the teams as they are the same team from the club.
The Cannock Chess League and the Dudley Chess League are not promotion and relegation leagues. Therefore whatever has happened in the previous season does not affect the team or the division entered for the next season.
The Shropshire Chess Rapid Play League is also a promotion and relegation league. Therefore for the Brewood Rapid Play A team and the Brewood Rapid Play B team in the Shropshire Chess Rapid Play League it is easier to track the progress of the teams as they are the same team from the club.

The Wolverhampton Chess Summer League is not a promotion and relegation league. Therefore whatever has happened in the previous season does not affect the team or the division entered for the next season.
There have been various formats of the summer league division three over the years. Division Three has either being a single division three with no division three north or division three south, or has being split into a division three north and a division three south with no single division three.
Whenever division three has being split north and south Brewood's geographical location has meant we have usually entered division three north, although in 2005 we entered both division three north and division three south.
With the various formats of the Wolverhampton Chess Summer League over the years there was no easy way to show the data so I took the option of spliting the data into four different sections to show all the various divisions of the leagues over the years.

Seasons 2005-2006 onwards will be updated soon.
The table below shows the name of the person, the amount of times they have been club champion, and the amount of times they have been runner up. If they have won the championship in the past the table on the right shows the last time they have won the championship.
Names are listed in order of the most championships won, and if there is more than one person with an equal amount of championship wins, they are then listed by number of times they have finished as runners up.
|Name||Brewood Chess Club Championships||Brewood Chess Club Championship Runners up||Last win|
|Chris Buxton||1||1||1998-99 |
|Peter Squires||1||0||1993-94 |
Here are the club newsletters which are written by Andrew Davies.
There are quite a few gaps in this table. A newsletter has not being produced for each month and at the moment only a few newsletters have been added onto the website. Nevertheless it is the aim to eventually have all the monthly newsletters that have ever been produced added onto the website as it helps give the website and the club a sense of history.
|2014||January 2014||February 2014||March 2014||April 2014|
We are hopeful of adding all of the AGM minutes from 1980 onwards. As is also the case with the adding of the clubs newsletters this will help give the club and the website a sense of history.
This will rely on finding the original documents which are likely to be handwritten paper copies and in all likeihood these are unlikely to be found. Even if the documents are found it will then rely on the paper copies being transfered onto a suitable format for the website.
Thanks to Andrew Davies (also from Brewood Chess Circle) as the majority of this information has come from the old Staffordshire Chess Association Website which he was the webmaster of.
It has the League tables for:
The 2010 Summer League information came from the old Wolverhampton Chess League website.
As websites are updated it can be easy to lose archived material, and this has not happened in this case. The league tables mentioned are all still viewable on the old Staffordshire Chess Association website now. It is thanks to Andrew Davies who kept the league tables on the old Staffordshire Chess Association website that there is already this much information available.
New updates will happen, as and when new information becomes available, assuming it is available. Being realistic it has been easier to get archives from the more recent history of the club, as websites became more widely used but the older history of the club will be more difficult especially as they are more likely to be on paper rather than typed up on a computer.
