The website can confirm after the St. George's B team lost at home to the Mercia A team on Monday 24th February, that the Brewood A team have mathematically survived relegation in the Wolverhampton Chess League Division 2. The Brewood A team already have 7 points from 8 games, with a record of won 3, drew 1, lost 4, with a board count of 25½.
With each team in the league playing a total of 9 fixtures, the Brewood A team now have one fixture left, away to Bushbury B on Wednesday 26th February. With the A team now mathematically safe, the players playing can enjoy the match against Bushbury B. However for Bushbury B it is still an important match.
At the bottom of the league St. George's B now have 2 points from 7 games, with a record of Played 7, Won 1, Drew 0, Lost 6. The maximum amount of points they can get is 6 points.
Lichfield B have 3 points with a record of Won 1, Drew 1, Lost 6. The maximum amount of points they can get is 5 points.
Bushbury B have 4 points from 6 games, with a record of Won 1, Drew 2, Lost 3. They can still get a maximum of 10 points, so can still finish above Brewood A, but they can also finish last and still go down.
The Brewood A team are currently 6th in the league, and the lowest position we are now guaranteed to finish is now 8th. 10 teams are in the league and either 1 or 2 teams go down. The Brewood A team have already secured their best finish in 5 years, and can finish anywhere in the league between 3rd-8th. This is a good reward for a good season for the A team.
