A unique opportunity for the chess club

Posted on July 1, 2013 at 11:05 AM

For tomorrow nights Wolverhampton Chess Summer League 2013 Division 3 North match at home against Cannock (2 July 2013), the club have been given an opportunity to play the games at the clubhouse using liveboards.  These boards, which belong to the ECF, are used with the top matches, and will be used at an international congress being held next month.

During a game, a lead is connected from the side of the board to a computer, which then records players moves etc.  Although not being used for this match, there is also the option for games played using these boards to be displayed live over the internet.

If anyone wants to see such equipment in use they are welcome to come along to the club, which is at the Roman Catholic Church Hall in Wharf Lane in Brewood.

All the players have to do is play the league game, and not worry about how it works or how to set it up etc.  The team for tomorrow nights match is John Fenby on board 1, Stephen Micklewright on board 2, Andrew Davies on board 3 and David Blower on board 4.

Lets hope the team can win in an historic first game for the club.
