The first chess post blog of the new website starts midseason so apologies if you have already played us this season. The blog begins with a match preview of Brewoods trip to Rugeley to play each other in the Cannock League Division 3, on Tuesday 20th November 2012.
Rugeleys chess club like Brewood competes in the Wolverhampton Chess League. However with all our teams in different divisions (Rugeleys team is in division 2, Brewood A and B teams are both in division 3) we won't be playing each other in the Wolverhampton League this season, meaning this meeting in the Cannock League will be the only time we face them this season.
Last season Brewood won the fixture against Rugeley in the Cannock League by the narrow margin of 2½-1½. Brewoods team is expected to have 1 change from that fixture, as Daniel Binfield will be playing after he missed last seasons match against Rugeley after illness after a school trip to Standon Bowers! David Blower will be hoping to avoid a repeat of last seasons match against Rugeley, checkmate in 13 moves to a long range queen attack which he simply didn't see!
The club wishes the 4 players travelling to Rugeley well. For those not going to Rugeley the club is open as usual.
