The Brewood A team managed to secure a w in when a draw would have been a sufficient enough result to make sure that we would survuve relegation.

The Brewood B team start with narrow defeat - Halesowen B 3-2 Brewood B

The Brewood B team ran the Halesowen B team close, as the Wolverhampton Chess League 2015-2016 Division 3 season for the Brewood B team got off to a losing start, away against Halesowen B, on Tuesday 22nd September 2015.

The Brewood A team continued the Wolverhampton Chess League 2014-2015 division 2 season away to Halesowen B on Tuesday 13th January 2015.  Looking to get a win against the team bottom of the division the team travelled to Halesowen looking to make up for a gutting last gasp defeat to the same club's A team earlier on in the season.  First here is the matchcard:

On Tuesday 25th November 2014 Brewood A hosted Halesowen A in Brewood's 2nd match of the season in the Wolverhampton & District Chess League 2014-2015 division 2 season.  This match report will not really do justice to the drama of the evening but I will try my best.  Halesowen A won as the title suggests right at the very last moments.  But first here is the match card:

I can only say I felt sorry for both Chris Haddon (Halesowen board 4) and Joyce Evans (Halesowen board 5) as they left Brewood Chess club on Tuesday 11th March 2014.  This was the date that Brewood B played against Halesowen B in the Wolverhampton Chess League 2013-2014 season division 3 match.

Halesowen B v Brewood B: A must win game

Brewood B travel to Halesowen needing to win to even have a chance to stay up.  Even then they will be dependant on other results, but a draw or a loss for the club will lead to relegation. 

This comes after Walsall Kipping manged to win against Halesowen, despite being outgraded on every board.  This defeat for Halesowen leaves them mathematically out of the promotion race, in the very next match after they beat our A team, one of the other promotion candida...

Two matches against Halesowen at once

Halesowen Chess Club are one of the biggest local teams in the area.  This means loads of teams and loads of fixtures to arrange for them, and it is not uncommon at Halesowen Chess Club for them to have 2 fixtures on the same night. 

Halesowen have 12 chess teams competing in the Wolverhampton, Birminham, Dudley and Worcester Chess Leagues.  This allows competitive action for chess players with a wide range of skill and ability.
