Brewood Chess Circle 2018 Summer Tournaments

It has been another busy winter league season for Brewood Chess Circle with it being a successful season on the board as we won the Chase Trophy run by the Cannock Chess League, and surviving relegation by finishing 5th in the Wolverhampton Chess League Division Two.

Internal Club Championship update

Here are the results of the club championship so far this season.  All of the results so far this season have been submitted to the ECF for ECF Grading purposes and should appear in the January 2018 grading list.

10 second lightning buzzer and 5 minute quick play tournaments

It has been a very busy winter league season and as such it has meant that two annual club tournaments have not yet taken place.  The dates and the details for these tournaments have now being arranged and the club committee have decided to open up these tournaments for this year.

Brewood Rapid Play Internal Club Championship - the final stages

The 2015-2016 Brewood Chess Circle Internal Rapid Play Club Championship has now moved into the final stages of the tournament.  Nine players took an active part in the pool stages of the tournament, and all of them have advanced into a final stage group, depending on their success (or not) in the earlier stages of the tournament.

Brewood Rapid Play Club Championship enters final stages

Since the last update on the website, David Buckley has played four games in the rapid play club championship, two games each on 2nd February and then 23rd February. 

To remind everyone of the tournament format, the time control is 20 minutes for all moves + 10 seconds per move, from move one, as the only available time control in the tournament.  The tournament results count for a player's ECF rapid play grade, as well as deciding who wins the internal rapi...

Rapid Play Club Championship is kick started

With the club committee well aware that with the shortage of digital chess clocks at the club, the external league fixture congestion, as well as the internal standard play club championship being prioritized it had meant that the internal rapid play club championship had gone well behind schedule.

The first round of the club championship has being completed, and the draw for round 2 has being published.  The club championship draw for round one was published as early as June 2015, and all of the results will be sent for grading.

Brewood Chess Circle Rapid Play Club Championship gets under way
