The Cannock Chess League team face a long wait before starting the Cannock Chess League 2018-2019 Division Two season away to Boldmere St. Michael's Chess Club on Wednesday 7th November 2018. Last season Boldmere St. Michael's were not in the Cannock Chess League but Brewood will be looking for a good start as they seek to claim a maiden Cannock Chess League title.

Here is an update of the results and individual match cards so far this season in the Cannock Chess League 2017-2018 Division Two season.
Overall there is a record of Played 5 matches, Won 3, Drew 1, Lost 1, For 11½ Against 8½ Points 10.

The Cannock Chess League 2017-2018 Division Two season sees Brewood compete in a league with six teams, including ourselves. Home and away fixtures have been agreed so that each team has a total of ten fixtures. The other teams in the league are Lichfield, Rugeley, Rushall, Tamworth and Wolverhampton.

Andrew Davies and David Blower attended the Cannock Chess League 2016 AGM on behalf of the club on Tuesday 10th May 2016. With most of the stuff being routine for AGMs the proposed changes to the grading limits was always going to take up a bit of the evening, as it is an important issue.

Brewood's Cannock League success continued recently when we played away at Lichfield. There was a lot of pressure on us to win, because as it turned out, we outgraded our opponents by quite a lot!
The match card was as follows:

Having won in the Quarter-Final against Lichfield at home, and then having got through on a tiebreaking method after a drawn match against Sutton Coldfield away in the semi-final, Brewood will now contest the final against Tamworth Chess Club on a date yet to be arranged. The match is at home and the club committee are in discussions with Tamworth about a date for the match.

Brewood managed a nerve-jangling, last gasp victory over Lichfield to clinch a place in the semi-final of the Chase Trophy, in dramatic style. The final and deciding game of the evening saw a large crowd of spectators gather round board two, as Mark Keady settled the game in Brewood's favour, with what was more like a blitz finish, rather than a quick play finish, after a long evening.

Brewood's first home match this season was a Division 3 Cannock Chess League match against Boldmere St. Michael's, who we would like to thank for a very enjoyable match. The time control was 30 moves in 1 hour, and then back 20 minutes. The match card was as follows:

Brewood Chess Circle played a Cannock Chess League Division 3 fixture away to Wolverhampton Chess Club on Thursday 14th May 2015.
All players were present and accounted for, so no boards were defaulted.
The time controls for the game were 30 moves in 60 minutes, then back 20 minutes.
