Brewood face newly promoted Warley Quinborne in their first match of the Wolverhampton Chess League 2018-2019 Division Two season on Tuesday 25th September 2018. Last season Warley Quinborne were champions of division three with only one defeat in twelve games and with a large squad to choose from look sure to give Brewood a tough test in their opening match.

The Brewood A team managed to secure a w in when a draw would have been a sufficient enough result to make sure that we would survuve relegation.

The Wolverhampton Chess League 2017-2018 Division Two fixture against Kidderminster A away originally scheduled for Wednesday 27th September 2017 has now being rearranged and confirmed for Wednesday 15th November 2017.
All the other fixtures remain unchanged. This means that Brewood will now start the season away against Stourbridge B on Wednesday 11th October 2017.

On Tuesday 4th April 2017 the Brewood A team played at home against Lichfield C in the final match for both clubs in the Wolverhampton Chess League 2016-2017 Division 2 season. Coming into the match it was a winner-takes-all final shootout match of the season. At the end of the match one of the two teams would get relegated, the other one would stay up.

A very eventful evening at Bushbury happened, with Brewood A and Lichfield B drawing 3-3. With Brewood A winning on boards 1 and 6, Lichfield B winning on boards 2 and 5 and draws on boards 3 and 4, it meant that the result after board count was 7-7.
Eliminating the bottom board one by one, meant that the result of board 6 was taken off first which was a win for Brewood. Therefore the score after the bottom board was eliminated was Brewood A 2-3 Lichfield ...Read Full Post »

Wolverhampton A, Mercia A, Rushall A, Lichfield B and Boldmere St. Michael's chess club are all involved alongside the Brewood A team in a six way battle for the two promotion spots out of division 2 of the Wolverhampton Chess League.
Should Brewood gain promotion it would mean that the chess club would be playing in division one of the Wolverhampton Chess League for the first time ever in the club's history.
